Alene Venetta Harold Lucas was born October 17, 1931in Kilgore, Texas to Joicy and Edward Harold.

She attended and graduated from North Chapel High School. Mrs. Lucas was an excellent student and an outstanding athlete. She competed in track, basketball and softball. Alene continued her education at Texas College, graduating in May 1953 with a B.S. degree in Physical Education.

Alene joined El Bethel Baptist Church as a youth and remained a faithful member until she married Calvin C. Lucas in November 1953 and relocated to New Mexico. She then united with the First United Methodist Church in Shiprock, New Mexico.

Mrs. Lucas began her teaching career on the Navajo Indian Reservation. While employed there, she enjoyed teaching second grade and was an excellent demonstration teacher,  training newly hired teachers until her retirement in 1982.

Upon returning to Tyler, Texas, the Lucas's united with St. James C.M.E. Church where she served as a member of the Stewardess Board, the Missionary Society and loved decorating the Church on special occasions.

During her retirement, her greatest love was supporting her grand children: Destina graduating with her Doctor of Juris Prudence; JaCory playing collegiate football and pursuing his graduate degree; Bryan flying around the world in his airplane; Porsche running track in High School, college and professionally.

Alene enjoyed spending time in Kilgore with her sisters Oreba Square and Zephyr Lee.

The love between Alene and Calvin is unmatched. When you saw one, you saw the other.  They were a devoted team. Very kind and compassionate.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Oreba Square.

Alene Lucas remains in the hearts of her loving and devoted husband, Calvin C. Lucas; son, Keith Lucas/Patricia, Plano; granddaughters Deastina Lucas, Irving; Porsche Lucas, Frisco; grandsons: Ja'Cory Lucas/Alissa, Las Cruces, New Mexico; Bryan Lucas, Ft.
