IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony Jewel
Ward
February 5, 1961 – December 18, 2020
Tony Ward born February 5, 1961 to Christell and Clifford Ward of Tyler, Texas died December 18, 2020 of COVID-19 complications. Tony was well loved by friends, co-workers, and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Jones Ward, two daughters, Rochelle Poulton and Whitney Horne, two stepsons, David and Darien Jones, and five grandchildren.
Tony among many things was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, accomplished musician, avid sports fan, excellent cook, and will be dearly missed by those who had the great pleasure of knowing him.
Tony grew up on the Navajo Nation in Northern New Mexico and Arizona, where his parents were educators. He was student body president of his high school, an impressive track star, and developed a love of cooking, music, and motorcycles. Tony graduated from the New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM where he met his first wife, Denise Anderson Ward. They had two daughters, Whitney and Rochelle Ward.
Professionally, Tony had two simultaneous careers. Tony was in healthcare management for nearly 40 years. He oversaw healthcare claims as manager and director for hospitals and insurers, where his tech savvy, hard work, and dedication to his staff made him well suited for the job. However, every available evening Tony was a musician.
Tony loved music and was an excellent bass player. He played in several bands on countless stages throughout the country. On many nights "Papa T" could be heard playing his bass guitar at home. His family will greatly miss his private concerts.
Tony found his great love in life through Priscilla. Their relationship was one filled with laughter, compassion, and enthusiasm. Tony was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
A graveside service will be held for close family at Evergreen Cemetery.
