IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlandus
Howland
May 14, 1953 – December 31, 2020
Arlandus Howland was the firstborn son of Oranes (Tom) Howland, Sr. and Cora Ann Mosley Howland. He was born on May 14, 1953 in Anderson County, Palestine, Tx.
Mr. Arlandus Howland attended Dunbar School, Emmitt Scott, and Robert E. Lee High School. During his early years, he was a very articulate individual and very intelligent. He was a well known neat dresser with style, and a very good artist. Some of his siblings can remember how he would butter his hands to beat the bongo drums. Oftentimes he would get in trouble by his mother for that song, "Hey you get off my mountain." One time he went to the watermelon patch and got his father's prized, and largest, Black Diamond watermelon and cut it.
Most of us knew and understood "Lan Tan" as he was called by most of us. He would fall down on his knees and pray anywhere. Most of his spare time was spent reading the bible, Sunday School book, or some sort of reading material.
On December 31, 2020 the Life of Mr. Arlandus "Lan Tan" came to an end.
He leaves to cherish his memories five brothers; Rusty Davis(Trina),Oranes Howland Jr., Otis Howland (Doretha), Gregory Howland(Shenetha), and Clayton Howland(Gwen). Four sisters; Dain Hunt,Sherry Walker(Claude), Marlease Stewart(Darrell), Oretise Pettigrew(Robert) and a host of nieces and nephews.
