Barbara Henderson Hudlin was born June 3, 1940, in Athens, Texas to Liston Henderson and Lizzie (Massey) Henderson, who both prece ded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Bishop B. R. Hudlin , Joe Willie Massey (brother), and Bettye Jean Dunnington (sister).  Barbara transition on December 29, 2021.

Barbara Henderson was a graduate of Fisher High in 1958.  She received her LVN degree from Henderson County Junior College. She was a natural caregiver and enjoyed taking care of others even up until the end.

Barbara relished work ing at the Henderson County Memorial Hospital for many years. Barbara continued in the caretaker role during her tenure as a School Nurse for over 42 years in the Athens Independent School District .

She loved Christ and her church.  As a life-long member of the General Assembly Church of the Living God, P.G.T., she served as the GLOW Society secretary for many years, a choir member, an avid Sunday School member, and many steering committees.

Barbara was also active in her community. She served on the Fisher High Alumni Association and she was a member of the NAACP . Barbara also aided her community as a voter registration advocate in addition to participating in the Athens Beautification Program.

Barbara Hudlin was an exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother. She dearly loved each of her grandchildren , spent time with them whenever possible and supported them in every conceivable manner. However, h er greatest joy was her seven-year old great-grand daughter Brielle. They spent numerous hours together daily playing dolls, school, painting fingernails and attending church.

Barbara is survived by: son s Joe Henderson (Daphne) of Kingsville, TX; X iphares Hudlin (April) of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Egypt Allen of Huntingdon, TN; Chris Crowther (Zulema) of Allen, TX; Brittany Henderson of Athens, TX; Ryan Henderson of Nashville, TN , Lisa and Skylar Hudlin of Cincinnati, OH and great grandchildren Brielle Henderson and Samuel Crowther .  She i s also survived by Thomas Henderson of Athens, TX (brother) , sisters Grace Isaac of Ft. Worth, TX and Johnnie Byrd of Athens, TX along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
