Betty Jean Smallwood Street was born on December 26, 1942 to the late Rev. Leggett Runnels and Lessie Ree Smallwood and adopted by J. B. and Mozzelle Smallwood at an early age.
She attended Tyler Public Schools and she was agraduate of Emmett Scott Class of 1961.
She worked as a seamstress for Levi Strauss Company for many years and retired from U.T. Health Center and became a at home child caregiver.
She was an active member of the OETBA Association, Texas Educational Baptist State Convention and People's Baptist Church.
Betty Jean was preceded in death by parents, Rev. Leggett Runnels and Lessie Ree Smallwood, .J B. and Mozzell Smallwood. Husband Jessie Street, brother Jerry B. Smallwood and Lawrence Jean Cooks.
She leaves to cherish five children: Gregory Walton, Bobbie Johnson, Melvin Smallwood, Yolonda Moore and Jesse A Street. 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Sisters Airleane Runnels Cole and Bobbie Joseph (Houston, TX.
A hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
