Billy Joe Cain was born June 7, 1939 in Jackson Springhill Community of Tyler, Texas to Lewis Cain and Zola Mae McCormick Cain.
He attended St. Louis Schools and was a 1958 graduate of Emmett Scott High School.
Billy accepted Christ at an early age and continued serving until his death. He was an ordained Deacon at St. Louis Community Church, he was a faithful member and worked in many capacities . Most will remember him as the caretaker of the St. Louis/Goss Cemeteries.
Mr. Cain worked as a tire builder for Kelly Springfield Tire (Goodyear Tire) and retired with over 30 years of service.
He was married to Betty Lewis Cain and to this union three children were born, Janet, Lazolla and Darwin. Betty his wife and daughter Janet preceded him in death. In 1980 he married Erma Shelby.
Also preceding him in death w ere four siblings; Evelyn Smith, Felton Cain, Bobby Cain and Jerry Cain.
Those left as survivors include his wife Erma Shelby Cain; son Darwin Cain, Arlington, TX.; Daughter Lazolla Cain, Ft. Worth, TX.; Brothers, Vasley Cain, Tyler,TX.; John Paul Cain, Dallas, TX., Charles Cain, Chicago, IL. and Maurice Cain, Sr.; Dallas, TX. Two sisters Celestine Cain-Devoe, Thomasville, GA. and Noella Cain, Tyler, TX. Many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
