Cephus Glen Clay was born on January 10, 1964 in Tyler, Texas to John William and Juanita Clay. From the very beginning Cephus was grounded in family and guided by the love, faith, and the community that surrounded him.

Cephus accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at a early age at College Hill Missionary Baptist Church. In later years he faithfully attended and served at St. James CME Church, where he found great joy in Sunday School and dedicated his time to the Usher Ministry. His profession of faith and his commitment to service helped form the character he carried throughout his life.

Cephus attended Mamie G. Griftin Elementary School and Dogan Middle School before graduating from John Tyler High School, class of 1982. Shortly after graduation he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he honorably served for five years.

Cephus was a faithful driver for NDMJ Transportation GoBus beginning in 2017 and continued his sevice with ETCOG after acquisition of NDMJ on January 2, 2025 with dedication and care.

He served Smith County and neighboring areas.

His life is celebrated not just by the years he lived, but by the memories he made and the legacy he leaves behind for family, friends and loved ones. Though he was a man of few, when he spoke, his words carried weight and were always filled with sincerity. Those who truly knew him will always cherish his memory with reflection and love.
