Christine was born to Amzie and Lilly Curry in Magnolia Ark. She was the 2nd of five girls born to the Curries. As a child the family moved to Tyler. She completed her formal education from Emmett Scott High. Christine followed her dream and attended Modern Beauty School and became a licensed Beautician. She was a beautician for over 60 years in her own shop. On Dec 13, 1964 Christine united with Saint James Baptist Church. She served as President of the Deaconess Board and on the senior choir for many years. Christine went on to marry the love of her life Ray Reed . To this union two sons where born Willie and John. Their union lasted until her husband passed in June 1998. She worked in her beauty shop and in church until her health declined.
She is survived by her sons -Willie (Alva) Fort Worth, John (Undrella) Fayetteville NC ,Emory (Rose) Baytown : Sisters- Francis Freeman (Tyler), Gloria Reed (Port Harbor,WA), Doretha Sumpter (Newport News, VA), Mary Bailey (deceased); Grand Children- Reginald (Fort Worth), Preston (Kimberly) Humble,TX; Brandon (Fayetteville NC), Rod (Baytown); Great Grand Children- Lil Reggie, Kaleb, Kerrington, Avah, Leah and a host of nieces and nephews. Her Special Daughters- Carmella Edwards, Melissa Broughton, Shawana Flowers, Min. Lynne Pannell, Sis. Linda Dews.
