IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clyde
Stine
May 7, 1949 – August 25, 2025
Life Reflections of Mr. Clyde Stine
Clyde Stine was born in Tyler, TX on May 7, 1949, to Asa Stine Sr. and Lola Belle Hightower Stine. He was the fifth (middle child) of nine children born to this union. Raised in very humble beginnings, Clyde and his seven siblings enjoyed many joyful moments together while growing up in the country.
He graduated from Jackson High School (a segregated school for blacks only) in 1967. Shortly afterwards, Clyde was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served 6 years, working as a Medical Tech during the Vietnam War. After completing his service in the Army, he returned to Tyler and began working at National Homes before continuing his career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, aka - Kelly Springfield Tire Company, where he remained until the plant closed.
Clyde had one daughter, Courtney, whom he loved and was immensely proud of. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of St. James CME. Clyde enjoyed having family dinners during the holidays with his siblings, nieces, and nephews, and during the latter years, he willingly opened his home for these gatherings.
Throughout his youth and well into adulthood, Clyde was an avid tennis player whose passion for the game was evident both on and off the court. He not only loved playing but also enjoyed watching the US Open, the Grand Slam series, and countless other professional tennis matches.
Another one of Clyde's greatest joys was music. He had a deep love for soul music and jazz, and his favorite artist was Sam Cooke. Clyde took great pride in sharing Cooke's story with anyone who would listen, teaching them about the musical legacy of Cooke. He loved many other artists as well.
Clyde leaves behind a notable legacy that will live on through his daughter, siblings, nieces, nephews, and the lives he touched along the way. He was loved and respected by his family, friends, classmates, and he will be deeply missed by all. Preceding him in death are his parents, Asa and Lola Belle Stine; brother, Charles O. Stine; sisters Lena Frances Stine (stillborn), Kathyren Stine Taylor, and Gloria Stine Mumphrey.
Left to cherish many memories are his daughter, Courtney Wright (Brian); his siblings: brothers, Asa Stine, Jr., and Jerry Stine (Patrice); sisters, Sandra Wynn (Charles), and Selena Stine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
