On the afternoon of October 19, 2004, in Mesquite, Texas, an angel was born to proud parents Lakeeta Shuanta Jordan and David D'Wayne Hood. She was a beautiful, bubbly baby girl. From a little girl, Dejah was vibrant and precocious, taking a back every person she encountered with her curiosity, wit and personality. She was a conversationalist with a contagious smile – never meeting a stranger.

Growing up, Dejah engaged herself with various activities including participating in school plays and volleyball. She was a peer tutor, assisting her friends with their schoolwork. Dejah enjoyed writing poetry in her spare time; and she possessed a beautiful singing voice. Dejah even started trying her had at rapping. The girl had bars, okay?! Dejah was well known for her phenomenal skills in hair styling and make-up artistry, becoming an entrepreneur from an early age. A self-starter, she took note of what was necessary to accomplish her goals and relentlessly sought after bringing them into fruition. An attribution of Dejah's tenacity is that in the spring of 2023, prior to graduating from high school, she had already completed the requirements of a Certified Nurses Aid, preparing herself for post-secondary success. Dejah loved children, if there were children in the room, you could guarantee there'd be a baby in Dejah's arms or a child sitting on her lap. She graciously and responsibly looked after her little cousins, and friends, children when asked. Dejah had a servant's heart and a giving spirit.

Dejah had an open mind about what her purpose in life was and was excited to pursue her dreams and realize her potential. She was caring and loyal to those she loved. Dejah leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Lakeeta Shuanta Jordan; father, David D'Wayne Hood; brother, David D'Shawn Hood, Jr.; sister, Jordan Allyce Hood; loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
