Time to Be Born: Sis. Devoria L. Caraway was born in Tyler, Texas to the late Mr. Zimiari and Sis. Janie Caraway.

Education: Graduated from Emmett J. Scott in 1956; Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Prairie View A&M University; Master of Science - East Texas State University.

Career: Instructor of Nursing Kilgore Junior College

Organizations: OAADN, Texas Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, TSTA/NEA, Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing, American Cancer Society; Life Organ Bank of East Texas, National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.

Walk with Christ: She accepted Christ at an early age at Saint Louis Church.  She was a faithful member of Sunshine Missionary Baptist Church and active in several ministries until her health failed.

Time to Love: She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Wardell S. Jackson on December 24, 1957.  Devoria and Wardell were blessed with fifty-two years of marriage.  To this union one child was born, Pamela Dianne Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Zimiari and Sis. Janie Caraway; husband, Mr. Wardell Jackson; two brothers, Mr. Osar Caraway, Sr. and Mr. Earl Caraway; and one sister, Sis. Gloria Jean Tilley.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  one daughter, Pamela Jackson Rowe; one granddaughter, Sis. Kaysi Brown Ford (Kristopher)); three great-grandchildren, Kordell S. Cooks, Kristen D. Ford, Kasheon Z. Ford; two sister-in-laws, Patricia Jackson, Bessie Caraway; two god-daughters, Sis Sandra L. Black, Sis.Mariland D. Jackson; five god-sons, Garry Jackson, Gail Jackson, Sr., Travis Jackson, David Washington, Corey D. Williams; a host of nieces and nephews, and special niece Brenda T. Williams.
