IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Earl Morney
Duncan
October 27, 1953 – July 29, 2020
On October 27, 1953, the Duncan household was blessed with the birth of the baby boy of the family, Earl Morney Duncan. His parents, Cossie B. Sr. and Lurlean Duncan, were very proud of him. The seventh child of their eight children, he was loved and adored by his siblings—but especially by his doting maternal grandmother, Hattie Q. Childs (Mama Hattie), who affectionately called him "Raggedy Wolf."
He attended the schools of the Lancaster Independent School District and graduated from Lancaster High School where he maintained very good grades and excelled in sports—especially football, basketball and baseball. He was very popular among his peers and was voted "Best Dressed" during his senior year. His hobbies during his high school years included roller skating with his big brother Cortez and riding his bike. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Northwood University of Cedar Hill, Texas, majoring in Business Administration.
Earl and Vivian met and fell in love. They were happily married on August 26,1984. Their union brought together their individual children and they later birthed a child together.
Earl accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of St. Paul Freewill Baptist Church of Lancaster, Texas where he sang in the youth choir. Earl loved to sing and was a devout member of the "Voices of Faith of Lancaster, TX" and later "Vivian Duncan and Friends Music Ministries". He was actively serving on the Praise Team at Fresh Wind Fresh Fire Ministries. He had a beautiful voice and was frequently requested to sing locally at various events and occasions.
Earl's employment history included working for Southwest Airlines, Charter Cable Company and Dallas Independent School District where he retired as an Assistant Teacher at Bayles Elementary School. He was greatly respected by the students and staff.
Earl is preceded in death by his mother and father; his grandmother; his paternal grandparents, John and Alice Duncan; three brothers, Cossie, Trice and Cortez Duncan; one sister, Dimple L. Holloway; one brother-in-law, Bertrand Holloway, and one niece, Kimberly Duncan.
Earl was an adoring husband, and a devoted father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his beloved wife of 35 years, Vivian Duncan, four daughters—Taen M. Duncan, Morney T. Duncan, Tierannye M. Sparks (Bobby II), and Rochelle Sanders; five grandchildren—Bobby III, Raya, Terrick, Taelyn and Trace; four sisters—Alyce Rogers, Brenda Sneed, Suzy P. Lee and Bermia Bush; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
