Elmer Jewell Barker was born in Athens, Texas to Marvin Templeton and Ella Mae Robinson Templeton on November 28, 1939.  She attended school in Athens and was a graduate of Fisher High School.  Elmer was a member of Mt. Providence Baptist Church for many years.  She was active in the church choir and a member of the Mission Board.

After high school, Elmer met and married Maxie Barker, Sr. T o this union 2 sons were born, Russell and Maxie.

Elmer loved time spent with family and friends as well as gardening tending to her flowers and vegetables.

She was preceded in death by her parents , Marvin and Ella Templeton, husband Marvin Barker and son Russell Barker; Brothers, Joseph Templeton and Thomas Templeton.

She is survived by her loving and devoted son Maxie Barker and daughter-in-law Ann Barker.  One sister Renell Stafford and 12 grandchildren.
