Our dear Mother Eva Jewel Bennett sadly passed away after a long and full life (94 years old) on November 23,2023. She was born to Benjamin and Thelma Hughes in Tyler,Texas on July 20,1929.
Eva attended Tyler Independent School District and Emmett Scott High School. She went on to further her education by attending Butler College (Tyler, Texas), Texas Southern University (Houston,Texas) with a bachelor degree from the first and a bachelor and MBA from the second.
Eva worked as a dietitian in several states; Salt Lake City, Utah; Reno, Nevada; San Francisco,California and retired from Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, Tx. Eva belonged to the American Dietetic Association and TEA Club. Eva was a wonderful mother, who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well loved member of St. Louis Missionary Baptist Church. She sung in the choir and worked in the kitchen. she also served in the Women's Retreat. She will be missed terribly.
She was preceded in death by her husband Swanson Bennett Sr.; granddaughter Eva Bennett and grandson Mark Wade Jr.
She is survived by her children: Sandra Warren, Swanson Bennett Jr and LaWanda Wade (Mark Wade) of Tyler,Texas, Tanya Bennett Simon(Elton), of Rosenberg,Texas and John Bennett(Armina) of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by nine grandsons, 11 granddaughters and a host of family and friends.
