Gloria Polk Matlock of Tyler,Texas left us surrounded by her children on January 15,2023. Gloria was born on August 20,1954 to the late Arma Louis Polk Sr & the late Princella Swindell-Polk in Henderson,Tx.

Gloria attended school in Wichita Falls,Tx and was a graduate of Hirschi High School class of 1972. After graduating she became a first time mother to her only son Jarrett Nigel Polk Sr. in 1973. The following year, she gave birth to her only daughter Tiffany Polk- Dunkley. She then moved to Tyler with her two children where she became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Matlock worked in healthcare for most of her life while also working other jobs to support her two children. After learning that she was going to be a grandmother for the first time, she retired to focus her time on providing daycare to her grandchildren. She did so until they attended public school. She loved spending time taking care of all her grandchildren. She made sure they were well taken care of.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arma Sr. and Princella Polk; and her brothers, Arma Jr, and Homer Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Charles Matlock; two children Jarrett (Lashanda) and Tiffany (Saul);eight grandchildren LaDestiny(Vincent), Symone Zeda, Jarrett Nigel Jr., Teon, Burrell, Jarrison, Moniah and Kullen; and two great- grandchildren Karson and Kynlee. She is also survived by three sisters, Mattie Guthrie (James), Nancy Woods, and Evelyn Anderson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
