Ida Bell Houston was born May 11, 1933 in Rusk Texas to Mr. L.T. and Ruby Gossett. She was the 1st child of child of 5 children.

She Joined College Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1963.  During her membership, she served as a teacher for the Women's Mission.

She attended and graduated from Emmett J Scott High School where she played Basketball wearing the Jersey # 2.

After High School, Ida worked a short time in Private Homes.  She then was an employee at Levi's Strauss where she worked for 8 years , then she retired as a house wife in 1980.

After High School Ida married Ray Reed and to this union Lynda Reed was born. December 30, 1971, she was blessed with Son Reginald E. Hart.

Preceding Ida in death, husband Rev. J.A. Houston,  parents, L.T. and Ruby Gossett, daughter Lynda Towels Reed, Sisters: Nola V. Gossett, Joyce Williamson; brother Welton Gossett.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Son Reginald E. Hart, Sister Clara Tucker, GOD Daughter Gerlynn Roberts, Grandsons:  Vinkahre' Hart Tyler TX, and Ta'Marius Hart, Phoenix AZ and a host of nieces and nephews
