Ione Geneva Glaspie Greer was born in Tatum,Texas on May 3,1916 to Gill Glaspie and Clara Pollard-Glaspie (Montgomery). She attended public school in Tatum,TX and graduated from Texas College in Tyler,TX.

Ione married Kermit Greer in 1938 until death in 1977. The lived in Tyler,TX and Compton,CA with their 3 children in this union. She went on to become a public school teacher in Tatum,TX, Dekalb,TX and Italy,TX Where she retired. She was a member of St. Mary Baptist Church since the 1940's.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, 5 brothers, 1 sister, and a daughter (Anthesia Greer-White).

She leaves behind 2 sons: Vernon Greer l, Venton Greer (Barbara); Son-in-Law: Inman White, 8 grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, and 1 great-great Grandchild.
