The man that we loved so much, James Edward Dews, Jr., was born on May 4, 1966 at Rusk Memorial Hospital in Rusk, Texas to the Late James Edward Dews, Sr. and Ruthie Scott Dews.  He united with Mount Elem Baptist Church at an early age.  He was a graduate of Whitehouse High School where he participated in several high school sports. He attended the University of North Texas and Prairie View A&M University. James was a 20-year employee at the Goodyear Tire Corporation and was currently employed by Flint Hill Resources in Longview, Texas.

He is survived by his mother, Ruthie Scott Dews, Whitehouse, Texas, brothers Brian A. Dews, McKinney, Texas, and Trent E. Dews (Melissa), McKinney, Texas.

James was married to Cindy Reagins, his wife of 28 years. In those years of marriage, he welcomed two beautiful daughters, Hannah and Cali, whom he absolutely treasured. He was a devoted husband and father. He is also survived by brother-in laws Frankie Hearon, Johnny (Mary) Reagins, Robert (Jennifer) Reagins, Virgil (Iris) Reagins, Randy (Millicent) Reagins; sister-in laws Ann Hairston, Joyce Thomas, Isabell Reagins, Cathy (Grady) Weaver. He leaves also to cherish his memories many uncles, aunts, cousins, and other family members. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
