James "JO" Owens was born December 24, 1944 in Bullard, Texas to Guy Owens and Johnnie Albright Owens. He attended school at Stanton High School and worked for GE/Trane for 44 years. He also was a DJ for KZEY for many years where he was known for his famous handle of "JO in your earhole." He was a member of Carter Temple CME until his death. James was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Owens.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving daughter, Meosha Davis. Two brothers; Leonard (Leonia), and Vernard (Dottie). One sister; Letha Wallace. Three grandchildren; DeShaun, Krystal, and M'Kayla. Special friend, Belinda Wallace, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
