Mr. James Thompson was born on April 9 ^th 1941 to the union of Charlie and Jannie Thompson in Ponta Tx. To this union eight children were born, three preceded him in death. Mr. Thompson received his formal education at Bradford High School in Rusk, Tx. He spent a small portion of his life in California before returning back home to live in New Summerfield.

He was united in holy matrimony to Eland Jackson, to their union four children were born. Mr. Thompson joined Cumberland CME Church at an early age where he served as a Sunday school teacher. He worked many different places in the local area including GE and later Trane were he retired after 30 plus years of service. He also served on the school board for many years. In his spare time Mr. Thompson could be found working in his garden which he enjoyed doing.

Mr. James Thompson departed this life on Tuesday June 7 ^th 2022 in Tyler, Tx. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving devoted wife of 50 years, Eland Thompson, two daughters Cheryl Thompson of California, Takisha Washington (Maurice) of Tyler, Tx; three sons James Earl Thompson Jr. of Dallas Tx, Rufus Thompson (Brashante) of Tyler Tx and Ralph Thompson of Tyler,Tx ; two sister Onia Merle Thompson and Espanola Thompson both of Dallas, Tx ; two brothers Franklin D Thompson and Marlin Thompson both of Dallas,Tx , 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
