Ms. Jessie Mae Gaines was born on August 19,1954 in Smith County, Texas to the late Phillip Gaines and Jessie M Williams Gaines. Following the untimely death of her mother two days after her birth, Jessie Mae was raised by her grandmother, Mrs. Delia Williams. At an early age, she united in fellowship with Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ, Tyler, Texas and later joined Hopewell CME Church, Arp,Tx. Jessie was a 1972 graduate of Chapel Hill High School.
After high school, she was employed by General Electrics (Trane) for 10 years. Jessie Mae's compassion for others, especially the elderly, was valuable as she later worked as a home healthcare provider for several years.

She loved her Jackson (Chapel Hill) community and often attended various church revivals throughout the area. Jessie Mae was known for taking daily strolls in the neighborhood and around Tyler, holding conversations with all she encountered while out walking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother-in laws Finnis George Smith and Vance Chatman, sister Paula Coats Chatman.

Jessie Mae transitioned from this life on  January 31,2022. She leaves to cherish her memories: Calvin Walker of Tyler,Tx:; son, Calvin D Walker; siblings Willie Gaines( Margaret) of Desota,Tx; Doris Gaines Stephens of Garland,TX; Jesse Lee Gaines (Gwinda) of Ft.Worth; Ella Mae Smith of Tyler,Tx and Bennie Gaines (Phyllis) of Fredericksburg,Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
