IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine
Crumpton-Hayden
August 16, 1941 – May 15, 2025
Josephine Crumpton- Hayden was born August 16, 1941, in Flint, TX to Elijah Crumpton and Narsis Kirby - Crumpton. Josephine graduated from Emmitt Scott in 1961. Josephine was a member of Bethel Temple Church of God in Christ. Josephine was employed as Certified Nurses Assistance in her younger life. She was highly active in the Butler College Community. Diagnosed with dementia in 2020, she remained active within her church and community. She did not allow her diagnosis to hinder her involvement or diminish her spirit.
Despite her medical challenges, she continued to spend quality time with her loved ones, creating lasting memories, and thrifting for unique finds in fashion and home goods. She loved to travel with her church family and took immense joy in organizing and participating in community events, including her dedicated work with the Neighborhood Watch Program.
If you knew anything about Ms. Josephine you knew that she loved to dance, and never passed up an opportunity to showcase it. She was a true stepper. She was a ray of sunshine that loved to laugh, smile, and enjoy life.
She departed this life on Thursday, May 15, 2025, to be with her Heavenly Father. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Marjorie Mosley, brothers Elijah Crumpton Jr., Charles Crumpton, Wright Crumpton and Willie B. Crumpton Sr.
Josephine leaves to cherish one daughter, Annette Hayden Nicholson (William) of Dallas, 1X, three sons Roosevelt Hayden of Tyler, TX; Dale Mccloud of Lufkin, TX and Carlos Hayden of Tyler, TX; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Hayden resided in Dallas, TX for several years before returning to her hometown to care for her mother. She remained there for over 30 years until her health began to decline, at which point she moved back to Dallas to be under the care of her daughter for the final three years of her life.
