Larry James Toler, Sr was born to Frank and Willie Lou Toler on February 1, 1953. He grew up in west Texas and later moved to Tyler where he attended local high schools, graduating with the class of 1971. He also attended Tyler Junior College.

Larry was a follower of Christ who served faithfully in a number of capacities at the New Life Community Church where Dr. V.M. Robertson is the Pastor. Herecently began pursuing a degree in Christian Counseling at Faith Christian Bible College

Larry was married to Sandra Louise Becknell-Toler for 45 years, and from their union, two children were born: Yolanda Patrice and Larry James, Jr.

Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed working with his hands whether it was building furniture from scratch, planting and cultivating acres of gardens-flowers, vegetables, and fruit- planting and cultivating trees, landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, automotive repair, or reconstructing computers, computer systems, and gadgets, just to name a few.

He worked as a dedicated team member with his Brookshire Grocery Company family for 35 years as an Operations Analyst among other roles.

Throughout his life, Larry was committed to always giving his best, and became a pillar of respect in the community.

He is preceded in death by his wife (Sandra Toler), brother (Paul Skillern), and two sisters (Gloria Skillern, Frankie Jones).

He is survived by his daughter Yolanda (Toler) Williams (Eric Dion Chew Williams), son Larry Toler, Jr. (Lamisha Cofer-Toler), four grandchildren Eric II, Ethan, Larry III, and Laila. He also leaves siblings Earnest Skillern(Lizzie), Troy Skillern (Hirmma), Lee Toler (Dora), Sandra Washington(Wavely), Calvin Toler(Nannette), Minnie Ross, Elnora Brody(Bernard), and Embry Lewis (E.L.). Larry also leaves a betrothed, Ms. Joice Arthur. Larry leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, loved ones, and friends.
