IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lcpl Qualin
Joseph Mitchell
July 6, 2001 – September 30, 2022
Lance Corporal Qualin Joseph Mitchell was born to the parents of Quincy Mitchell and Gwendolyn Yarbrough in Tyler, Texas.
Known to many as Qualin Joseph Mitchell, but to family he was Bubba. He loved blowing bubbles as a baby. In 2008 he transitioned to Plano, TX with his mother and brothers. Qualin attended Rhema Fellowship Church in Plano, Texas under the leadership of Pastor James W. Thomas (Lady T. Thomas), in 2008, where he was active and faithfully served for over 9 years. There he chose to voluntarily surrender his life to Christ and was baptized January 6, 2017. In 2017 he began fellowshipping with his mom and brothers at the Remnant of Faith COGIC under the leadership of Superintendent Lorenzo Plater (Lady B. Plater). There he served in the media department every Sunday until graduating high school in 2019. Him and the Platers, along with mother and brothers became family. Every Sunday, Qualin looked forward to what or where we all were going to eat after a long COGIC service. During the summer and weekends, he frequented Faith Tabernacle Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Purvey. His hobbies included listening to 70's music, playing basketball, fishing, working out and Legos.
Qualin lived a full life with the time he had while on earth. He was always an exceptional and high achieving person. While attending Plano Senior High (2019), he participated in orchestra as a violinist. His love for that grew, oftentimes he was in his room creating angelic sounds or revamping Star Wars theme songs. He was always enthused to share his latest masterpiece with his mother. As a High School senior, he set a goal to rank first chair in Chambers but was satisfied with ranking second chair. However, his main focus has always been academics. Qualin successfully graduated in the top 25% o f his class, giving him the advantage to complete an Associate's degree within a year based on graduating in the Advanced-degree program. He also received a few UIL awards.
Besides loving school and always having a life plan, he spent the majority of his time reading the Word, playing video games and working. Qualin Joseph Mitchell was a very independent, fun and free-spirited young man, who did not allow the opinions of others to stop him from achieving any goal he set for himself. After faithfully working for Taco Bell and the pandemic putting a damper on his academic future of becoming an attorney, he enlisted into the Marines Corps (April 2021). With much success, he beat every odd set-against him. By graduation day, he received expert rifle recognition and shortly after becoming assigned to Alpha Co, 9 th Communication Battalion, I MIG, I MEF, and was promoted to Lance Corporal.
Qualin Joseph Mitchell was always a high achiever and there is no doubt that he would've accomplished so much more had time permitted. He had many aspirations but his latest was photography. Two of his favorite quotes were "Never wastetime…Spend it well." And "That's why we endure. We are Christians" I will never forget that.
Qualin Joseph Mitchell has finally found his place where he belongs resting in the arms of Jesus. He was preceded in death by his Great Grandmothers: Gwendolyn Pringle and Lousie Wyatt; Great-Grandparents Sadie and Gus McCowan; Melvin Mitchell; Grandfathers Rev. Ronnie McCowan and "PawPaw" Mitchell McLeod.
He is survived by his Father Quincy Mitchell, Mother Gwendolyn Yarbrough;brothers Quinton Darrius Mitchell and Quincy Kahil Mitchell; Grandmothers Carolyn Knight(Hubert) and Kathryn McLeod, Grandfather Stanley Mitchell and Great-grandmother Carol Yarbrough.
