Bro. Leonard Ray McCowin was born October 21, 1951 to Howard and Elnora McCowin in Center, Shelby County, Texas.
He graduated from Jackson-Chapel Hill School home of the Bulldogs, were he and other teammates led the Bulldogs to a District Championship.
He attended University of Oklahoma on a football scholarship, but because of the college sports program probationary issue, Leonard was transferred to Michigan. During practice at Michigan State, he broke his neck, and as a result his football career was ended.
One of Leonard's favorite pastimes was the CB radio. He loved it and he owned a home base in which he took on the handle of " The Block Buster" which he is known by today. He also gave "Everyone" a nickname that he came in contact with.
Leonard was united in holy matrimony to Brenda Joyce Roberson in 1973 and they shared 47 wonderful years together. To this union, two daughters were born, Sheree McCowin and Vicki McCowin Cooks.
Leonard worked in the oilfield as a Toolpusher and Driller for 30 plus years until his health failed.
He entered into eternal rest on October 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elnora McCowin, one brother; J.W. Williams, and one sister; Kathleen McCowin.
He leaves to mourn his precious memories, his wife; Brenda, two daughters; Sheree(Darrell) and Vicki(Darin), four grandchildren; Keona Caldwell, Deoishana Elliot, Le'Marquaill Fuller, and ShaKayla Fuller. Three great-grandchildren; Kailee Pierce, Jeremiah Brown, and Kaylnn Ervin. One sister, Jossie Butler(Charlie), Four brothers; Gearge E. McCowin(Sandy), Lawrence E. McCowin(Shelia), Howard E. McCowin(Helen), and Pastor Larry W. McCowin(Abby) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His precious memories will forever live in the hearts of all that knew him.
