Lillian Taylor Banks was born on January 29,1924 in Frisco, Texas to the late Joseph and Willie Mae Mackey Taylor. She was the middle child of three children. She departed this earthly life on September 27,2022. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Zion CME Church in Redland, TX where she served as a faithful servant until she married the late Joe Banks Sr. on November 10,1943. They were married for 59 blessed years until his death in 2003. To this union were 8 children: Four boys and four girls.

Upon marriage, she moved her membership to New Holland Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health declined. She was the "Mother of the Church", the oldest member and the 1st to be baptized at New Holland in 1945.

Lillian graduated from Redland High School as Valedictorian and studied at Southern Bible Institute. Throughout her working career she worked closely with special needs kids at the St. Louis School. She was part of 4-H Community & American Home Economic Organization, as well as a very dedicated PTA member. She retired from Tyler ISD after 15 years of service as a Teacher's Aide and Bus Monitor. Prior to her tenure at TISD, she was beautician for over 25 years.

She was a member of the St.Louis Community Association and advocated for the Free Summer Lunch Program for youth. She was a very influential leader in the St. Louis neighborhood and pillar in the community. Lillian was member of the mission & senior choir at New Holland, a dedicated Sunday School Teacher, Mission Secretary, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceeded in death by her parents,her husband Joe Banks Sr.; two brothers Arthur J Taylor and Otis Taylor; son Calvin Banks; daughter Joyce Carter, and grandson Kevin Banks.

Lillian leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Barbara Banks, Pamela Banks and Beverly Moore; her sons Joe Banks Jr.(Barbara), Robert Banks(Janice) and Sam Banks ( Jennifer) all of Tyler; Daughter-in-Law Ruby Banks of Dallas, 28 grandchildren, 43 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
