IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lisa Jeanine
Rutherford-Turner
July 27, 1964 – February 1, 2026
Lisa Jeanine Rutherford Turner, the daughter of the late Ivey Hugh Rutherford and Mattie Faye Prince Rutherford, was born July 27, 1964, in Mineola, Texas. She graduated from Hawkins High School in 1983. After graduation, Lisa continued her education at Texas Woman's University, where she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at Big Sandy Elementary School. During her career as an educator, Lisa also taught at Chapel Hill, Clarksville, and Palestine school districts. She had a profound love for children and a passion for teaching that inspired her students to enjoy learning and strive for excellence. Lisa retired from Palestine Independent School District in 2019.
Lisa professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hawkins, Texas. She later transferred her membership to West Union Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Rodney Angton. She was a virtuous woman who first and foremost loved Jesus. She was kind and compassionate and loved others unconditionally. Her family meant a great deal to her and she cherished the time she spent with them. She loved attending worship services and enjoyed fellowship with other believers. Additionally, she loved listening to gospel music, connecting with others on social media, and remaining in contact with family and friends. She also enjoyed baking delicious pound cakes for others as a tribute to her mother's legacy.
She married her soulmate, Darold Lynn Turner in 1985. They shared 40 wonderful years together and touched many lives through their career in education. They loved being parents, and family was of the utmost importance. They were blessed by God with two sons, Bryan and Jaylyn. Darold and Lisa were blessed to welcome two additional sons, Vincent and Trent. Lisa was utterly devoted to her husband and sons. In 2018, they were blessed with a grandson, Jaylyn Phillip Ryan Turner II. Lisa was ecstatic to be a grandmother. She adored "Jay2" and he absolutely treasured his "Lollipop".
She was the ultimate cheerleader who loved watching her sons and students' teams compete in sports. Lisa was always an angel among us. She returned to her heavenly father Sunday, February 1, 2026.
