Marilyn Joyce Rollins was born on January 25, 1955 the fourth of eight children to the parentage of Mattie V. Kennibrew and Thomas Lee Smith. She received her education from Tyler ISD in Tyler, Texas and went on to receive her nursing degree from Tyler Junior College and UT Tyler. She worked at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

Joyce never met a stranger. She loved her family and people. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Joyce answered her call to glory on Monday, December 29, 2025.

She is preceded in death by her mom, Mattie; dad, Thomas; her grandparents; son, Charles Rollins: daughters, Monica King and Marilanna King; and brothers, Glenn and Shawn.

She leaves to carry her legacy and preserve her memory, her children: Marilyn "Sweet Pea" King, David 9. King, Dewayne King, and Thomas C. Rollins; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters: Gwen, Carolyn, Velma, Joyce, and Raquita: brother: Wayne; special cousins: Patricia Thompson, Christine Thompoon: daughters-in-law: Brandy King and Nadia Green; special niece: Quartilla Black: special friends: Sandra Williams, Phencara Bowman, Jackie Hood, and Molly Wilder: God-daughter: Dawn Duncan-Holder; God-sons: Shane Goode and Wes Rawrence; and a hosts of other family, friends, and acquaintances.
