Martevian DeShaun McGee was born January 22, 2001 in Texarkana, Texas to Laquentun Craig and Shannon Jacobs. He was adopted into the family of Broderick and Tabbotha McGee on June 27, 2008. His footprints with God led him to join New Life Community Church under the pastoral care of Dr. V.M. Robertson where he was active in the Youth Ministry and Choir. Martevian attended Tyler ISD schools graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 2019. He also took courses at the Career and Technology Center (CTC) where he was known for his quiet demeanor and quick wit.
After graduation, Martevian enlisted in the United States Army and stationed at Fort Riley Kansas in the 1st Infantry Division as a 92A Automated Logistical Specialist. While serving in the Army, Martevian received the following recognitions: National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. He continued to serve until he was honorably discharged
Affectionately known as "Marty", he charmed people with his infectious smile and caring heart. He was also known for a tremendous appetite that kept his family and friends wondering where he was putting all the food he ate.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Pastor L.M. and Norma McGee, and Willie Bailey, Sr., uncles: Leotha McGee, Jr. and Willie Bailey, Jr. As well as his biological grandmother, Cynthia Collins.
Marty's footprints faded Sunday, April 7, 2024 but his spirit will live forever in the hearts and lives of those he touched and loved and who loved him.
Martevian will be cherished and missed by his son, Ja'Ire and mother Kiya; his parents, Broderick and Tabbotha McGee; siblings: two sisters, Natori and Shavalya and brother, Kelton. Grandparents, Willis and Sammie Johnson; and Viola Camble-Cunningham.
He is also survived by his biological family including his father, Laquentun Craig; mother, Shannon Jacobs; five sisters - KeDeidre, Myeisha, ShaKeydria, RaKeyia, and Kierra: two brothers - Marquise and Jaishon; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and friends whose lives he impacted with his love, kindness, and gentle spirit.
