IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Louise
Caddell
October 16, 1932 – April 23, 2022
Martha Louise Caddell was born on October 16, 1932 in Lindale, Texas and passed away on April 23, 2022 at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas. She was 89 years old. She was born to the parentage of Rev. Solomon McGee and Birdie Brown McGee. On July 2, 1959, she married James Clifton Caddell and to this union their son, James Dwayne Caddell, was born.
Martha accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Walnut Springs Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas. She later joined North Star Missionary Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas and Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in Center Texas. As an active church member, she formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir Director, Committee Leader, as well as Director of Music. She graduated from Bragg Morris High School in Lindale, Texas. After high school, she attended Butler College in Tyler, Texas, where she received a Bachelor's Degree. Martha began her teaching career in Center, Texas in 1956 and subsequently retired there in 2004. Initially, she taught school at C H Daniels High School, but after integration, she was transferred to Center Intermediate School. She was a fifth and sixth grade Music teacher. Her tenure as an Educator spanned 48 years. Martha's career was generational, meaning that she had often taught the parents of some of her younger students. Her passion and dedication inspired her to treat many of the children as if they were her own. She received many accolades during her lifetime, which are too numerous to name. Upon retirement, her unrelenting desire to serve others led her to becoming a volunteer at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital Clinics as well as a Substitute Teacher for Tyler ISD until her health began to fail.
Martha was the last survivor out of eleven children. Preceding her in death are her parents, Rev. Solomon and Birdie McGee; her son, James D. Caddell; seven sisters: Artiree Anderson, Doretha Spencer, Eula Johnson, Ernestine Johnson, Birdie Love, Carrie Johnson, and Theta Thornton; three brothers, Lawrence McGee, Solomon McGee, Jr, and Lindsey James McGee. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of almost 63 years, James C. Caddell, Tyler; Granddaughter, Sarah (Rob) Freni and her Great-Grandsons, Charlie, Henry, and William all of Beverly, MA. She is also remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many devoted former students. Martha is loved dearly and will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.
