Mary Elizabeth White was born July 31, 1937 to the late Sidney White Sr. and Lena Gardner White and passed away on May 11, 2026.
Mary was welcomed by her parents as their 7* child of 8 children and their 2nd daughter. Her siblings who have predeceased her are Travis White, Theodore White, Warren George White, Pearl White Wells, Dr. Sidney White, Jr., Father Joseph Bernard White, and John White, Sr. Mary was baptized as a child and was a lifelong Episcopalian. She was a loyal and devoted member of St. Francis Episcopal Church of Tyler.
Mary attended Tyler Public Schools and graduated from Emmitt J . Scott High School i n 1945. Mary loved music and played the clarinet in her High School Band. Her love of music continued throughout her life and she was a regular season ticket holder t o The East Texas Symphony and rarely missed a concert. Mary attended college at Saint Augustine's University, a private Episcopal University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her college career was cut short as she was called home to help care for her Mother and Father.
Mary loved her independence and her two dogs, Benji and Zoe. She worked as a Nanny to Imogene and Wilton Fair and helped raise their daughter Kay Fair. She then worked in the home of Amy and Tom Woldert and their children Thomas, James and Martha Claire whom she loved calling "Her Children". She also worked in the home of Michelle and Rick Jett.
In addition, Mary was a friendly face in the Children's Nursery a t Marvin Methodist Church. She had a great love for all children and poured that love into the families of Marvin with care and kindness. And the kids loved her! It was with
great joy that Mary was recognized in 2014 for over 40 years of dedication to the Children at Marvin Church. Mary had a smile for and a helpful nature in caring for each child who brought her so much happiness. Mary impacted so many lives by just showing the love of Jesus to the ones entrusted in her care. She was a role
model showing how to serve like Jesus with quiet humility and love. Mary was known for always remembering her friends' Birthdays and calling them or sending cards on their special day. She loved to play April Fool's Day jokes on anyone that she could trick. Her grilled cheese sandwiches were legendary! She had a great sense of humor and lived her life with a heart for others.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory Nephews Warren G. White and John White, Jr. (Michelle); Nieces Linda White Petty (Eric), Christine White, Sandra White Harris (Andre); Sister-in-Law Lena White; Great nieces Alexandria Johnson, Jordan White and Vanessa Ross; Great Nephews John White III and Andre Johnson.
Mary also leaves special friends Amy and Tom Woldert and their family.
Graveside Services will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:30 on May 22, 2026.
