Maxine B. Childs was the last daughter born to Jarone and Mary Brooks on September 14, 1948 in Big Sandy, Texas. Maxine attended Big Sandy, she was a devoted basketball player with many achievements. Maxine was a graduate of Hawkins High School. She accepted Christ at an early age, Maxine was a member of the Hillside Church of God in Christ.

On June 14, 1967, Maxine united in Holy Matrimony to George Ray Childs, to this union four children were born, a set of twins departed them in death.

Maxine worked for Southland Distribution for 10 years. She later became employed by Tyler Independent School District as a Bus Monitor for 23 years until her retirement.

Maxine was preceded in death by parents;Jerome & Mary Brooks, husband; George Ray Childs, son; Raymond Childs, daughter; Monica Childs, five brothers; Curtis, Jerry, Floyd, Arthur and Robert Brooks,two sisters; Zetha Whatley, and Alma Sedberry, grandson; Stephen Ray Childs.

She leaves to mourn two daughters, Detra Childs, and Veronica Childs both of Tyler, Texas. 1 sister; Betty Lincoln of Lubbock, Texas, two brothers; Tommie Brooks of Victorville, California, and Howard(Virginia) Brooks of Cedar Hill, Texas. Four grandchildren; Ashanti Childs, Jacobie Childs, JaMichael Childs, and Chassity Garrett all of Tyler, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
