Asberry
March 3, 1940 – June 23, 2024
Patsy Asberry was born to Lee & Bessie Asberry on March 3, 1940. She was the oldest daughter. She was reared by Henry and Georgia Taylor her aunt and uncle. Patsy grew up in Palestine, Texas. She attended Banks elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from A.M. Story High School. She later attended Southern College of Medical Technology in Houston, Texas.
Her first job was in Denton, Texas. She later moved to Dallas and was employed by International Hospital.
She returned to Palestine and later moved to Tyler and was employed by Dr. J. W. Hillard where she worked for 10 years. She was later employed by Trane Company and worked until retirement after 27 years of service.
She was reared in the AME Church at Mount Vernon AME Church in Palestine. In Tyler she was a member of Ebenezer AME. At Ebenezer, Patsy was Missionary President for 10 years. She also served as a Stewardess, Area Chairperson for 10 years, choir member and active in many other areas of the church.
On Sunday, June 23, 2024, God whispered and said "Patsy it is done!" She departed this life, where sickness will be no more. She often talked about her new address.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle, brother, Norman Casey, son, Ken Dorough, granddaughter, Tameki Harris and niece Sonya Carter, of Waco.
Those she leaves to cherish precious memories are her son, Kevin Wallace (Montia), Mesquite, TX.; devoted daughter, Kim Harris, Tyler, TX. Sister Daisy White, Colorado; Eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; nephews Richard Carter, Waco, TX. Her chosen God daughters Cheryl Rodgers, Debra Vaughn, Shelia Blevins and Edna Davidson. Numerous other cousins, relatives, her church family and friends.
