Pearlie Mae Johnson was born on June 24, 1939 to the loving parents Barney Landers and Pearlie B. Wilhite in Memphis, Texas. She attended schools and graduated from Memphis High School in Memphis, Tx. After high school she attended nursing school in Dallas, Tx. where she graduated and became a LVN. Aunt Pearlie Mae/Sis. Pearlie/Momma Dear, as she was known by family and friends accepted Christ at early age while attending Full Gospel Holy Temple in Dallas, Tx.
Later after moving to the East Texas area in the early 70's she married the late George Johnson and became a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Chandler, Tx under the leadership of the late J D. Hamilton Sr. (Poppa). As a member she served faithfully, musician, Sunday School teacher, a choir member, usher, the praise & worship leader for the Women's Department and over the nursing unit.
Pearlie was the Leader of Monday prayer Team who went on many missions and visit the sick and shut- in, she continues her journey under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Curtis Purvey faithfully until passing.
Pearlie worked as an LVN at various hospitals and nursing homes in the East Texas area. She worked 25 years at East Texas Medical Center until she retired and after retirement, she became a caregiver to many. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, praying and helping her family and church members.
Pearlie was preceded in death by her husband George Johnson, four brothers, Joe Wilhite,
Jimmie Bradford, Mitchell Landers and Lonnie Landers. Two sisters Lorene Wright and Mary Hubbard.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Arlander Sampson Jr. of Tyler, Tx. Three daughters, Luvenia Bobsaith of Houston,Tx., Jacqueline Thompson(Cecil) of Pflugerville,Tx. and Artrilla Hayter (Samuel) of Terrell, Tx. brother Barnell Landers (Faye) of Hereford, Tx., Goddaughter Jessetta Jones and God-son George both of Chandler, Tx. Eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
