Pastor Rickey Abraham was born on November 1, 1956, to James Washington and GeorgeAnn Abraham. He was blessed not only by those who gave him life, but also by those who helped shape it—he was lovingly raised by Arzzie (Buddy) and Sally Watkins, who poured into him through care, guidance, and strength that would remain evident throughout his life. He attended Mary C. Womack until Longview fully integrated in 1970.
Pastor Abraham lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. He was known as a minister, husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and servant leader—a man who was faithful, supportive, loyal, dependable, understanding, trustworthy, caring, honest, funny, reliable, encouraging, selfless, strong, wise, and passionate. Pastor Abraham served honorably in the United States Army, demonstrating discipline, courage, and commitment. His military service reflected his character—steadfast, dependable, and willing to serve something greater than himself. Preceding him in death is GeorgeAnn Abraham(mother). James Washington( Father), Buddy and Sally Watkins, Brother Charles Watkins (brother)

On August 6, 2010, Pastor Abraham married the love of his life, Starlet Duffey-Abraham, uniting two beautiful families. Their marriage stood as an example of faith and commitment, and he led his home with love—always putting family first and ensuring God remained the head of his life in every aspect. He was a man of peace and togetherness. His life reflected unity, order, and love. He led by example and carried himself with a spirit of calm strength—one that made others feel safe, supported, and valued. Pastor Abraham was known for his genuine spirit and generous heart. He opened his door to others even when he didn't have to. He gave before he received, helped without being asked, and supported people through their hardest seasons. He did not only preach and teach the Word—he lived by the Word. Pastor Rickey Abraham was truly one of God's servants. He stood with many through the good and the bad, offering comfort, correction, encouragement, and hope. His life was a testimony of consistent faith and unwavering compassion.

For 41 years, Pastor Rickey Abraham faithfully served in pastoral ministry, leading many souls to Christ and impacting lives across 10 churches. His ministry journey began at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Carthage, Texas, where he served for two years. He later served at:

● Pleasant Hill (2 years)
● Browns Chapel (18 years)
● Spring Chapel (1½ years)
● Mt. Lebanon (5 years)
● Gum Springs (1 year)
● Jenkins Memorial (1 year)
● Vivian Chapel (5 years)
● Scott's Memorial (8½ years)

Across every assignment, Pastor Abraham remained consistent: devoted to preaching truth, loving people, and leading with integrity. He was a pastor who did not simply stand in the pulpit—he stood in the gap.

His final sermon was preached on September 28, 2025, at Gum Springs CME Church in Douglasville, titled:

"You May Have Messed Up But God Can Still Use You."
Scripture: Matthew 26:30–35; 69–75 and Acts 2:37–41

He reminded the congregation that there comes a time in all our lives when God places us on the wheel and reshapes us. Using the story of Simon Peter, he spoke hope into the hearts of God's people, emphasizing that failure does not cancel purpose—God can still restore and use
us. In addition to his ministerial calling, Pastor Abraham worked with dedication and honor throughout his life, including employment with Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview ISD, and various security roles. He was a hardworking man who carried integrity wherever he
served.

Pastor Rickey Abraham leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, strength, and service. His life was a living testimony of God's grace and the power of obedience. While our hearts grieve, we rejoice in knowing that he has completed his earthly assignment and entered eternal rest. Well
done, good and faithful servant.
