Robert Earl Tilley was born August 23, 1948 in Troup, Texas to the late Jesse and Cordelia Tilley.
Robert grew up in Tyler, Texas and attended Emmett J. Scott where he graduated from the class of 1968. After he graduated, he served 2 years in the United States Army from 1968-1970. Robert returned home to Tyler, Texas where he was employed at Tyler Pipe for many years, he later became an Engineer for Union Pacific Railroad where he retired as a valued employee.
He was united in Holy Matrimony on December 31,1988 to Ella Tilley and to this union no children were born.
Robert attended Hopewell Valley Church under Pastor V.M. Robertson and later moved his membership to New Life Community Church under the leadership of Pastor V.M. Robertson where he was an active member. He served on the Deacon board and he helped in the church wherever he was needed.
Robert enjoyed fishing, working on antique cars, taking care of his family, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a Die-hard Cowboys fan.
Robert was preceded in death by parents; Jesse and Cordelia Tilley, brothers; Josephus Tilley and James Tilley (Earldean), sisters; Lois Slack(Harvey) and Mary Jo Steptoe(Samuel), and grandson; Ermias Jones
Robert leaves to cherish his precious memories: His loving wife of 33 years Ella Tilley of Tyler, Texas. Three daughters; Tonya of Houston, Texas, E'Talle Rider and Shamiya Tilley both of Tyler, Texas. One son; Tony of Houston, Texas. Two step-sons; Robert Earl Brooks and Anthony Brooks both of Tyler, Texas. Nine grandchildren; MaKiya, AhNaya, Chyna, Kingston, Kamden, Gwyn, Gabrielle, Briana, and Antreanna all of Tyler, Texas. Three great-grandchildren; Jayden Brooks, Brayson Brooks, and Kaden Brooks all of Tyler, Texas; three sisters; Leverse Mullens (Edward) of Artesia, NM, M. Jewelett Taylor (Juan) of Houston, Texas, and Johnnie B. Williams (Michael) of Dallas, Texas, three brothers; Colonel J. Junior Tilley (Kathryn), Young Tilley, and Darnell Tilley all of Tyler, Texas. Three Special Friends; Forest Blue, Waddell Campbell, and Billy Ray Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
