Mrs. Ruth Laverne Freeney, age 65, of Whitehouse Texas, passed away Thursday evening, July 2, 2020, at University of Texas Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

Ruth was born February 5, 1955, in Smith County. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Malachi Sr and Katherine Dews, her brother James E Dews Sr, and sister Cathy Dews. Son-in-law Whitfield (Bob) Clarke, and grandchild Baby Royster.

She was a dedicated member of Mt. Elem Baptist Church in Whitehouse, Texas, and a retired branch manager for Bank of America.  She enjoyed reading her bible, helping others, attending church functions, spending time with her children and spoiling her 5 grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 38 years, Rev. Jimmy Freeney of Whitehouse, daughters: Roshunda Clarke (Bob) of Humble , Kim Royster (Michael) of Hockley, and Tara Roth (Edward Sr) of Humble. Brother s Malachi Dews Jr (Sharon) , Rev. LC Dews (Willie), Ernest Dews Sr (E ar nestine), Timothy Dews (Emily) and Noel Dews ; Sisters Myrtle Smith, Carla Holman (Gene), Henry Mae Dews Harris (William), Beverly Faulks (Rev. Charles). Sister-in-law Ruthie Dews. Granddaughters Breanna Roth, Angel Oliver, and Kiara Dews ; Grandsons Tyler Roth and Edward (EJ) Roth Jr.

S he also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends who will mourn and miss her.

Visitation will be, at Brooks Sterling and Garret Funeral Home, 302 N Ross Ave Tyler, Tx, 75702. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020. Graveside funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Black Jack Cemetery in Whitehouse with Pastor Richard K Robinson of Mt. Elem Baptist Church in Whitehouse, Texas officiating , and eulogy by Pastor Ernest Dews Jr of New Hope Conglee Baptist Church Troup, Texas.
