IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Ann
Anderson
March 4, 1946 – December 24, 2024
Shirley Ann Anderson was born March 4, 1946 to the late I.V. and Hattie V. Tennyson in Quitman, Texas. She graduated from Bragg Morris High School in Lindale, Texas and attended Tyler Junior College and Texas College. She married John Anderson and to this union three children were born. Although the marriage did not last, it blessed them with three loving daughters, who Shirley would affectionately call "My 3 babies, My 3 girls". They were the light of her life and it's clear that she cherished every moment spent with them.
She worked at Community Hospital for 10 years as a Nurse Aide. When the hospital closed, she applied and was immediately hired at Goodwill Industries of East Texas where she worked for 40 years with roles ranging from Assistant Supervisor, Cashier and Receptionist. As the Receptionist, she was often referred to as "The Voice of Goodwill". It was something about her cheerful voice and spirit that could light up a room extremely fast.
Shirley was a devoted church member with incredible faith in God. At an early age she joined Rock Creek Church which later united with Friendship CME Church and was a member for over 50 years. She served as Musician for 44 years, playing the piano so eloquently. She also served as Sunday School Teacher and was on the Decorations Committee and Finance Committee.
To know Shirley was to love her. She was the heart and soul of her family. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love were the pillars of strength for her children, Sherry, Lisha and Jacqueline. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy that will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy was all about giving to others, being kind and respectful to everyone she met, both young and old. She was a great Mother, Grandmother, cook, songstress, friend, neighbor and all-around fantastic Woman of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents I.V. and Hattie V. Tennyson, brothers Cecil Tennyson, Walter Tennyson, Ray Charles Tennyson, sisters Hattie Mae Brooks and Addie Bell Edwards.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memory; three daughters: Sherry A. Jernagin (Jeffery), Saint Rose, LA; Lisha R. Anderson, Tyler, TX; Jacqueline D. McDaniel, Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren: Deon Tucker (Ellena) Winona, TX; Jaszitie McDaniel, Fort Worth, TX; Reginald McDaniel Jr, Fort Worth, TX and Cayden Callier Tyler, TX; five great grandchildren: Jaxon, Aaliya, Malik, JusticeRose and T'Kai; two sisters: Priscilla Bowie (Ernest) Tyler, TX and Vickie Crawford Tyler, TX; two brothers Willie J. Tennyson, Sr (Tena) Bullard, TX and Glenn Paul Tennyson (Vickie) Tyler, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and the community.
Another special family she leaves to cherish her memory are the children and grandchildren of the late Robert Morris, whom she embraced as her own.
