IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Versie Leen
Mccullough
April 6, 1947 – September 23, 2020
Born April 06, 1947 in Troup, Texas, Versie Leen was the younger of 2 children born to the Rufus Ray and Minnie Adams Ray. Both parents and one grandson, Titus Pendleton preceded her in death.
Versie accepted Christ at an early age uniting with Mt. Rose Baptist Church in Troup, TX. In her adult years she united with Fellowship Baptist Church in Tyler, TX and her current membership at death with New Days Community Church in Tyler, TX. Throughout her spiritual journey, she enjoyed singing in the choir, Bible Study, NDCC Women's Ministry and the NDCC Golden Girls.
As a child, Versie attended Troup Schools, graduating from Central High School in 1965. Several years after high school, she completed her Secretarial Certification from Tyler Commercial College.
Married from 1967 to 1977, Versie and Willie McCullough (deceased) were blessed with 2 daughters, Monica and Winifred. Later in 1980, Versie opened her heart and home to a baby boy cousin, Shannon, raising him as her own child.
Before discontinuing her work life early due to health challenges, she gave devoted service to Levi Strauss & Co., Texas Department of Human Services and College Cleaners.
She did not allow her health challenges to hinder her life's purpose. Above all, she wanted to do God's Will, know Him and live by His Word. She gave selfless devotion and unconditionally love to all relationships. Versie's greatest pastimes were creating happiness through her cooking, caring for those in need, and speaking God's Truth in Love. She delighted in "adopting" others becoming their second mother. She often blessed many with her cooking expertise whether by instruction or by preparing dishes. The favorite request from family and friends was the delectable Tea Cakes. Her untiring love and care will be missed.
Versie quietly and peacefully transitioned from this life to Eternal Rest on September 23, 2020.
Left to cherish her precious memories includes her Daughters: Monica Pendleton (Marcus), Crowley, TX; Winifred McCullough, Tyler, TX; Son: Shannon Tilley, Tyler, TX; Granddaughters: Kebrina McCullough and Ollie Johnson, Tyler, TX; Tre'Oshula McCullough, Euless, TX. and Trinitee Pendleton, Crowley, TX; Her beloved sister: Gracie Warren, Tyler, TX; Nephews/Niece (like her children): Byron Warren, Jermaine Warren, Sonja Warren, all of Tyler, TX; Godson: Lamar Richardson; Goddaughters: LaVisha Caldwell-Culbreth and Marie Cash; Special children: Sade Sanders, Davod Hicks, Kenneth and Vickie Champion, Galen Parker; Cousin/Road Buddy: Odell Anderson; Special dialysis friend: Danny Rose and many very special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
