Brown, Sr.
December 30, 1932 – October 11, 2019
Walter Ray Brown, Sr. was born on December 30, 1932 to Jesse and Mary Brown in
Hawkins, TX. He attended Fouke-Hawkins High School where he was an exceptional athlete.
Mr. Brown grew up in Bethlehem United Methodist Church in his younger years, then became
a faithful and loyal member at New Days Community Church.
Mr. Brown worked at Boeing Aircraft, Montgomery Wards, Sears in the Automotive Center
and at Tyler Recreational Center before retiring. He served in the United States Army..
However, his all-time favorite job was coaching his softball team, known as "Hit and Run".
He enjoyed coaching and traveling, also watching the game of softball. He was an avid
Cowboy fan.
Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mary Brown;and a sister Laveta
Polk.
Mr. Brown is survived by his children Walter Brown, Jr., Charles Brown, Sr., Carloyn Brown
(mother Dorothy Brown) and Deron Bradley (mother Sylvia Bradley); 11 grandchildren, and
9 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Narita Hyter, Nita Faye Moorehead, Mattie McClure (Boyd)
and Jewell Truitt (Hilliard); and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
