Wanda Brown Jenkins was born on October 3, 1946 the sixth child of Hubert and Lodis P. Brown in Tyler, Texas. She attended Dixie Elementary School and graduated from Emmett J. Scott High School in Tyler in 1964. She was baptized into Christ at an early age and worshiped faithfully at the Swan Church of Christ until her transition to be with the Lord.
In 1965, Wanda married the love of her life, Will Jenkins, and to this union, six children were born. Over her marriage, Wanda was a homemaker and invested her time rearing her five children and helping to rear her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She saw that each generation, beginning with her own children and extending down to her great grands, experienced lots of love, discipline, and life lessons. However, the greatest gift she gave was the love of God. She made sure that her children, grandchildren, and great grands went to regular worship and learned about the Lord.
Wanda was a devout Christian. As a woman of God and a pillar in the Swan community, she busied herself doing the Lord's work by consistently visiting the sick and shut in and giving anything she had that would help someone out or brighten someone's day. Throughout her life, she faithfully worshiped the Lord while constantly giving of herself to those in need. All who knew her loved her and her kind spirit.
Wanda was preceded in death by one son, baby Randall; her parents, Hubert and Lodis Brown; three sisters, Olga Wright, Sandra Hayter, and Sunshine Brown; two brothers, French L. Brown and Donny Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband of 55 years, Will Jenkins (Tyler) ; two daughters, Kenyatta (Tyler), RoShanda (Mesquite, Texas); three sons, Keith (Dallas, Texas), Eric (Tyler), and Reginald (Tyler); four granddaughters, Keimyette Spencer, RoShondrea Jenkins, Shakala Jones, and Kiara Cain; four grandsons, Christopher Jones, Keashaun Jenkins, Keith Jenkins, and Jaylon Cain; one great granddaughter, Ondrea Kiser; two great grandsons, Anthony Henson and Jordan Platt; two sisters, Elmina Green (Richmond, California) and Hazel Swift (Houston, Texas), and one brother, Willie Roy Brown (Tyler). She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives, and friends.
