Willie Retha Wofford was born on April 19, 1934 to the late John and Ollie B. Wofford in Overton, TX. Mrs. Willie grew up on the Wofford Hill surrounded by family. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Flenning Chapel C.M.E., which was later named Spring Chapel C.M.E. Ms. Willie graduated from Arp Industrial School in 19 55 where s he was involved in athletics especially basketball and softball .  After graduating , s he was employed at her alma mater Arp Industrial as one of the essential workers of the cafeteria in making sure all the students and staff had a southern home style cooked meal.  After leaving Arp Industrial, she then went on to work in Patient Care of different Nursing facilities and p rivate home care of individuals until she reached retirement. After retirement, she was known as one of the m atriarch women of The Wofford Hill where she helped in the raising of all the younger generations.  She was all about family and keeping the family together and knowing our history.

On September 18 , at approximately 9:52 p.m. , God open ed his arms and said , "Willie, come find your rest for your work is done t here on Earth. " Sh e is preceded in death by her parents , John & Ollie Wofford ; son , Tamasa Wofford ; daughter-in-law, Adrianne Wofford; brothers, J.W . , S.J., Bishop, Edward, & George Wofford; sis ters, Evelyn Green & Ruby Starks , godsons, Curtis Starks , Ivory Joe Starling, & Willie Lawrence Starling .  She leaves to carry on her legacy , her daughter Sherry (John) Booty ; step-grand daughters Nicolette Thompson and Rachael Williams; s ister , Mildred Coaty ; brother-in-law, Glen Green, Sr.; god sons , James Starks, Sr. & Donald Wofford ; god- daught ers, Teressa Pollard , Terette Tillman , Debra Williamson, & Angie Wofford , , and a host of family and friends.
